Registration is currently underway for the annual Harvest Queen Pageant which will be held during this year's William Walton Harvest Festival.  There will be six different age categories ranging from age 1 to 18.  The registration fee is $25 per contestant.  Applications can be picked up at the Smith County Chamber.  For complete pageant details please call 615-489-5570.

 

The Carthage Rotary Club will hold their annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on Friday, October 6th from 6-9:30am and Saturday, October 7th from 7-9:30am at the former Gordonsville Shoprite.  Tickets may be purchased for $7 from any Rotarian or at the door.  Rotarians will deliver carry-out orders to Carthage for free.

 

The 2nd Annual Duck Race to benefit the Smith County Pregnancy Resource Center will be held during the Annual William Walton Harvest Festival.  The festival will be held Saturday, September 30th from 10am-5pm.  There will be multiple races throughout the day with a final race at the end of the day.

 

 

A benefit crawfish boil will be held for the Smith County Pregnancy Help Center on Saturday, Septmeber 23rd from 5-7pm.  The Crawfish Boil will be held at the Smith County Chamber.  The cost is $10 per plate.  You can dine-in or carry out.  For details please call 615-735-2093.

 

The Scarecrow Stomp 5K Fun Run will be held Saturday, October 14th at 9am in Granville.  The run is a benefit for the Granville Volunteer Fire Department.  Dress up in your Halloween costume and run amongst the scarecrows.  For registration information go online to granvilletnfiredepartment.org

 

 

The Smith County Drug Prevention Coalition will host their annual Walk for Recovery Glow Walk on Thursday, September 28th beginning at 6:30pm.  The walk will take place at Rails to Trails in South Carthage starting at the gazebo across from South Carthage City Hall.  Entry is free.  For complete details please call the coalition at 615-588-1622.

 
 

 

School bus drivers are needed in Smith County.  Drivers can apply at the Smith County Bus Garage at 302 Upper Ferry Road in Carthage.  Bus mechanics are also needed and can also applu at the Bus Garage.
