The Communty Wellness Alliance of Smith County and the Thrive Youth Coalition presents "Snow Ball - Freeze Out Bad Decisions" at the Rose Building in Carthage at 110 3rd Avenue West in Carthage on Friday, December 19th. Doors Open at 4:30pm and the dance is from 5-8. There will be food, music, games and prizes. For details call 615-588-1622.

 

The Annual Lights of Long Branch Christmas Lights drive-thru Christmas display is currently in operation and will run through December 23rd at Long Branch State Park in Lancaster. The display will be open Monday thru Thursdays from 5-9 and Friday thru Sundays from 5-10. The cost is $15 per vehicle and all the proceeds go to the Gordonsville Football Booster Club to support the Gordonsville Tigers football program.

 

The Pregnancy Resource Center of Smith County at 108 College Avenue West in Carthage invites you to come out and see Santa Clause on Monday, December 22nd from 10am - Noon. Bring your kids and take pictures with Santa. There will be free coffee and treats for the kids. For details call 615-281-8054.

 

The annual Gordonsville Christmas parade will be held this Saturday, December 6th starting at 5pm and will run down main street in Gordonsville. And this Sunday, December 7th  the annual Hometown Carthage Christmas Parade begins at 4:30pm and will run down Dixon Springs Highway, then down Main Street to the Courthouse.

 

Santa Claus will be visiting the Carthage Junction Depot over by Crump Paris Park in South Carthage on Saturday, December 13th from 10am to 4pm. Children can get their picture made with Santa. The event will also feature a snow globe competition with various snow globes on display.

 

The Grinch will be making a special appearance this holiday season. The Gordonsville Police Department will be hosting a meet and greet with the Grinch on Friday, December 19th from 5-7pm at the Gordonsville Civic Center. Parents are invited to bring out the kids for pictures with the Grinch.

 

The Smith County School Board wants to remind the community that School Bus Drivers are needed. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, must be 25 years of age with a clean driving record, must pass a background check and drug screening and requires a DOT Physical and CDL with S & P endorements.
