The Gordonsville High School Football Tiger Booster Club will host their annual Eye of the Tiger Car Show Saturday July 25th at Gordonsville High School. Registration starts at 7am, the show begins at 10am with awards given out at 1pm. The entry fee is $20 per vehicle.

 

Smith County High School will host an Open House on Tuesday, August 4th from 3-5pm. Students and their parents can tour the building, meet their teachers and faculty and learn about clubs, sports and other activities

 

Union Heights School will hold student registration for any new student who plans to attend this fall on Tuesday, July 21st from 4-6pm. Please bring students birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency.

 

The Town of Carthage is accepting applications for a level 1 maintenance worker position in their water and sewer line maintenance department. Online applications can be obtained at TownofCarthageTN.gov under public notices. Resumes and applications must be submitted to Carthage City Hall by Wednesday July 22nd.

 

Early voting for the August 6th elections will be held July 17th - August 1st at the turner building in Carthage Mon-Fri from 8-4, Saturdays from 9-noon, with extended hours on the 21st & 28th from 8-6. Early voting will also be held at the Gordonsville Civic Center July 21st from 8-6, and the 22nd & 23rd from 8-4

 

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reminding residents across Middle Tennessee that black bears are on the move this summer. Black bears have already been sighted in Hickman, Dickson, Wilson and Sumner counties and are expected to migrate into other counties. Residents are encouraged not to approach or feed the bears and report sightings to their local TWRA offices

 

The Smith County Election Commission would like to remind Registered Voters who are unable to go to their polling place on Election Day may vote during early voting or by voting absentee if they meet certain qualifications. To vote absentee you must submit a request to the Election Commission Office to include your social security number, home address and date of birth by July 27th

 

The Annual Smith County Back to School Bash is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 18th at the Smith County Chamber. The Event is looking for sponsorships which will go towards purchasing school supplies for local students in Smith County.
