The inaugural Main Street Yard Sale Event will be held on Saturday, May 27th from 8am-4pm on the historic Smith County Courthouse Square in Carthage.  10 x 10 booth spaces can be reserved prior to the event date for $10 each.  The rate will increase to $30 the day of the event.  Electrical hook up is an additional $10.  To reserve your space and for more information call the Smith County Chamber at 615-735-2093.
Lady Owl Basketball Camp will be held May 31st thru June 2nd. beginning at 8:30am each day at Bill Landreth Gymnasium at Smith Co. The Caney Fork Chapter of the CMT/ABATE Motorcycle Club will host a
charity Family Fun Day and the Smith County Community Playground
at the south end of the soccer fields at Crump Paris Park in South Carthage.

The Smith County High School Cheerleaders are hosting a little girls cheer camp on Saturday, June 3rd from 9am-2pm at the Smith County High School Gym.  Registration forms can be picked up at Hackett's Drugs and Smith County Drug Center.  The $45 registration fee covers lunch and a t-shirt.  You must be pre-registered by May 22nd to receive a t-shirt.




The Annual Defeated Creek Bluegrass Festival will be held Friday & Saturday, June 9th & 10th. Performing Friday night will be Muddy Water Bluegrass and Tom Brantley & Missionary Ridge. Performing Saturday night will be Bluegrass Solutions and Avery Trace.  Rhythm in Motion will perform both nights.  Gates open at 6pm each night, admission is $3, and all proceeds benefit the Defeated Creek Volunteer Fire Department.



The Smith County High School Baseball team will hold tryouts on Friday, May 26th at 2pm at Owl Field on 1st Avenue in Carthage.  Players need to bring a baseball glove and cap, baseball pants, cleats and contact information for parents and the player.  Tryouts are open to all current Smith County High School students and all incoming freshmen.
Riverview Regional Medical Center will hold a Community Baby Shower for new moms,
and soon-to-be-new moms, on Thursday, May 25th from 4-7pm.  The baby shower will
be held in the hospital's cafeteria and lobby.  There will be games, snacks, parenting

The Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy in Hartsville will hold their annual summer music
camp June 9th thru 17th.  There will be classes for all ages to include lessons in piano,

Smith County High School will host their annual Owls boys basketball camp June 19th - 21st at Bill Landreth Gymnasium.  The camp is for grades Kindergarten thru 8th and will run from 9am-noon each day.  The cost is $50 per player and includes a t-shirt and basketball. A benefit for Tim Bull Warren, who is need of a kidney transplant, will be held Saturday May 27th on Upchurch Lane off Horseshoe Bend Lane from 11am - Midnight.  There will be live music and lots to eat to include smoked hog, shrimp, gumbo, crawfish, frog legs, hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken plus plenty of beverages.
